It is a common practice to test the integrity of your above ground and below ground storage tanks on a regular basis. Unless you suspect a problem, testing your UST and AST systems is generally done on an annual basis as part of a routine maintenance. The main purpose is to check the integrity of your systems and often times extend the life of your systems.
Tank Testing may not be required by law in every part of the world yet but it is a “best practice” to do it. Besides the environmental reasons, proactively testing your underground storage tanks reduces maintenance costs by catching equipment issues earlier. Any size leak can become a costly problem.
